Curriculum in International Economics and Business (IEB)
LAUREA MAGISTRALE IN ECONOMIA E COMMERCIO INTERNAZIONALE
2nd Cycle (Master Level) University Degree
Build your future!
IEB is for 3-year graduate students who are eager to develop their professional experience in an
international context and are specifically interested in:
- Economic and financial institutions
- Multinational enterprises or, firms with a strong presence in international markets
- Small and medium export enterprises
- Consulting firms that target the development of European and World markets
The course is directed specifically at students who have a good knowledge of English and for
those with a keen interest in team work.
International students enrolling in this course will have the opportunity to learn about the working
of Italian SME specialised in the production of high quality, "Italian style" consumer goods exported
throughout the world.
The Faculty of Economics "Giorgio Fuà" is located in the Italian Marche Region,
the heartland of important industrial districts and has a long standing record of
research in industrial districts and SME entrepreneurship and development.
The IEB programme offers the following training:
- It will give the participants a solid foundation in economics and management matched with the
ability to grasp the dynamics of markets which control the opportunities and risks of enterprise expansion.
- It will make the students streamline and exploit their knowledge of languages through free preparatory
specialized language courses for international language certificates (TOEFL, FCE or other equivalent
certificates for other languages). All lessons will be conducted in English. International students
will be offered free courses of Italian language.
- It will give them the opportunity to broaden their cultural horizons by studying and attending specialized
courses in other European Universities under the Erasmus framework, participating in international
internship, attending seminars held by experts and managers of Italian and International firms.
- The programme will facilitate contacts with institutions and companies that may become the future employers
of the students.
Study programme
The study programme has been carefully prepared in order to provide students with a solid economic and managerial
background and to allow them to develop activities and experience that can build up their CV.
The IEB program is based on three strong points:
An experimental and innovative teaching programme
IEB has put forward a new innovative teaching programme that requires students to attend all
the lessons and to work in a team in order to develop their analytical skills.
IEB helps and encourages students to prepare their exams during lesson time and to take the exams
at the end of each course thus freeing up the summer months to carry out activities that will strengthen
their CV.
Another important aspect of the IEB program is the intensive courses that are condensed into a few weeks.
This teaching method is especially for the courses held by International faculty members.
An International faculty
The courses are held by Italian and International professors from American and European universities and
by high officials of the European Union. Particularly important is the presence of professors from the
Ohio College of Business (US) with whom we have a partnership for developing innovative teaching
methodologies.
A strong emphasis on building the student's CV
In order to be competitive on the job market what counts, besides the graduation grade, is the international
work and study experience accumulated during the formative years.
To this end, IEB:
- Asks the students to pass a certificate of English at B2 level if he/she does not hold one at the time of enrolment,
offering free and specific and preparatory courses.
- Helps the students to spend periods of study in other European universities by means of the Faculty's Erasmus projects.
- Encourages the students to take up internship in the summer period through the Campus World programme or other
programmes that are currently being defined.

University Degree in International Economics and Commerce at the Faculty of Economics "Giorgio Fuà".
It is open to other Italian and International students having the qualifications specified below.
Italian students (please check the webpage in Italian)
International Students
Admission of international students is subject to degree and specific knowledge requirements
1. Degree
A) A 3 or 4 year University Degree in Economics and/or Management
B) A 3 or 4 year University Degree in other subjects, provided that they have obtained
* the equivalent of 50 (ECTS) credits in Economics and Business subjects (of which at least 20
credits in Economics and 20 in Business);
** the equivalent of 15 (ECTS) credits in mathematics and/or statistics subjects;
*** the equivalent of 10 (ECTS) credits in a law subject.
All International Degrees must be specifically approved by the Faculty Board
For students with an exceptionally outstanding study record, the Faculty Board can authorize graduates
who do not hold the required qualifications to take an aptitude test.
2. Specific knowledge
A student's admission depends on his/her passing a specific knowledge test given and judged by a panel
of examiners appointed by the Faculty Board.
The panel will examine the candidate on the following subjects:

- Basic knowledge of the principles of International Economics, Marketing or Business Management at undergraduate level.
- For candidates with outstanding abilities, who have been admitted to the aptitude test by the Faculty Board, the test can also include general cultural knowledge.
